Where has the time gone? I've not written a blog post in such a long time but instead I have been so busy with placements and final year shenanigans. But now here I am and thought I would share with you the time I spent at Trend Bible.
After my year placement with TJX Europe, I was really interested to learn more about trend forecasting and so found myself an internship in Newcastle with Trend Bible. The lovely team that I worked with spend their days researching macro trends that may influence consumer attitudes and tastes. They work with businesses to really understand their aims and objectives and how the upcoming trends can be incorporated within their product ranges and style.
I completely loved my time with Trend Bible, no day was the same and they really allowed me to experience the role of a trend forecaster and consultant. I worked within a team that allowed me the opportunity to work on a live brief with a large US retailer. The American consumer market was an unknown ground for me to research and so learning new researching techniques from Trend Bible was invaluable not only for this project, but for myself and future career. I learnt the best methods to research consumer behaviours and to not only rely on Pinterest for images! I took part in a workshop where I gained further insight into seeking out trends and conveying them via images rather than text, which will be great when I visit Milan Design Week next week.
The skills and insight I gained from being in Newcastle, be it only 8 days, was amazing and I got a great "buzz" from being in such a creative environment and working amongst like-minded individuals. The team at Trend Bible couldn't have been any more amazing with myself and the other interns working there, I really felt like a true member of the team-no this isn't a paid ad!
I would urge anyone to take the opportunity of an internship if it arises, both my experiences at TJX Europe and Trend Bible have been amazing and have given me lessons in things I never knew I needed. Not only do they teach you about what you want to seek in a career, but what you also may not want from your future. I never knew that from my TJX Europe experience that trend forecasting existed until I was asked to complete a trend report when at Pitti.
It's been an exciting year and I look forward to where this experience will take me in the future!
